Let’s take a closer look at the key differences between the Golf GTI TCR and the standard Golf GTI. 1. It has more power and it’s faster. Like the standard GTI, the Golf GTI TCR has a 2.0-litre turbopetrol engine but it has been uprated to produce 213 kW and 380 Nm. Note that the GTI TCR makes use of a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Thanks to these and other updates, the 2022 Golf GTI is rated at 241 hp (180 kW / 244 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. This is a modest increase of 13 hp (10 kW / 13 PS) and 15 lb-ft (20 Nm
The GTI Performance’s turbo 2-litre four-cylinder engine is much more typical of a modern hot hatch. It’s 242bhp – up 15bhp from the old Performance Pack GTI, and from the latest regular GTI

I have owned many more prestigious cars in the past (not gonna brag) but this GTi is up there with the best of them, possibly the best cause its just so drivable. Loving it.

All other details aside, one key difference between the 2019 and 2020 GTIs will be the shift away from the fairly generous 6 year/72K warranty to something much more limited for the new model year. A dealer salesman I trust pretty well mentioned this to me a few days ago, actually.
Moreover, the GTI's 0.96 g of maximum lateral grip nearly equals the 0.97 g of the WRX's big brother, the rally-freak STI. But it gets better. In 60-0 braking, the GTI's huge binders (13.4-inch discs up front and 12.2 in back, part of the $1495 Performance Pack) halted the 3088-pound hatch in a mere 100 feet.

r/GolfGTI is a place for GTI enthusiasts to discuss and share information related to the best car that can be had for less than $40K. We entertain beauty shots and thrive on discussing mods, whether purely cosmetic, functional, or both. We welcome discussion of all things GTI as well as other VW hot hatchbacks.
I’m not educated enough to speak on the differences between the mk6 & mk7, but the verdict seems to be that the mechanical upgrades from mk7 to mk8 (engine, suspension, etc) are solid changes, but that the interior is more cheaply made (more hard plastics), and the capacitive touch is generally an L to most people.
