From Graz, been to Bratislava: both are nice, but if you only have 3 days, I'd rather go to Bratislava from Vienna. Much shorter travel times and since you don't have personal connections either way I guess it doesn't make sense to travel for 5 instead of 2 hours to visit a different city. For those travelling on a budget, taking a bus from Vienna to Bratislava is the best option. Slovak Lines, Flixbus and Eurolines all offer a variety of very frequent services from/to various parts of each city for around €7-15 each one-way. Journey time is anywhere from 50 minutes to 1hr20m depending on the route.
That being said, Bratislava and Vienna are a great contrast in terms of wealth and culture and that is why I would recommend someone visit it. In some respects Bratislava seems to have been trapped in a time machine and only now are things starting to change. Vienna was great, would recommend. It is easy and cheap too get around as well so you can pick a hotel a little further out and not be inconvenienced. I stayed in a budget chain hotel there just outside of the main zone and it was a lot cheaper but also only about a 5-10 min walk to get to the middle of town. 11.
